Unit Stills Photographer | What It Feels Like for a Girl (BBC Drama, UK)

I had the incredible honour of serving as the Unit Stills Photographer on What It Feels Like for a Girl, an evocative BBC drama adapted from Paris Lees’ acclaimed memoir. The series offers an unflinching portrayal of a trans teenager’s coming-of-age journey in early 2000s Nottinghamshire. Through the lens of Byron (played by Ellis Howard), the narrative delves into themes of identity, resilience, and the complexities of youth. The production was shot on location in Nottingham and South Wales, capturing the raw authenticity of the story.

As the Unit Stills Photographer, I was documenting the cast’s remarkable performances and the team’s dedication. The authenticity and depth brought by the actors were palpable, and their commitment to the story was so inspiring. Their joy, vulnerability, and authenticity infused every scene, making my role immensely rewarding. Capturing these moments not only preserved the essence of the series but also highlighted the collaborative spirit of the entire crew.

I hope you love What It Feels Like For A Girl as much as l and all the wonderful cast and crew loved making it.
